Post-Graduate Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners (PMHNPs) are advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) certified to assess, diagnose and treat individuals and families with psychiatric disorders using their full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and administration of psychotherapy.

This post-graduate certificate provides graduate-prepared nurses with the knowledge and skills to seek certification as a PMHNP. It is available to those holding a previous graduate degree in nursing and an active, unencumbered RN license in the state of Texas.

Graduates are eligible to sit for Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Across the Lifespan) Certification (PMHNP-BC™) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Course instruction is delivered asynchronously online. Clinical hours are required.
