Registering Your HESI Exam with ProctorU

The Texas A&M College of Nursing partners with Elsevier and ProctorU for online proctoring of the HESI Admission Assessment (A2) exam.  


Step 1: Set up your Elsevier (Evolve) account 

 

Before doing anything with ProctorU, you must have an Evolve/Elsevier account.  

  • Visit the Evolve/Elsevier website 
  • If you already have an account, you're good to go.  
  • Make sure to write down your Evolve username and password; you'll need it during your exam.  


Step 2: Create or update your ProctorU account 

 

If you’ve used ProctorU before:  

You must add a new enrollment with Elsevier – HESI. Do not use your usual school’s ProctorU setup.  

  1. Log in at ProctorU.
  2. Click your name (top right) → Account Settings. 
  3. Scroll to Enrollments → click Add Enrollment.
  4. Select Elsevier – HESI.
  5. Click Update Account.  

If this is your first time using ProctorU:  

  1. Visit ProctorU log in page. 
  2. Click Sign Up.  
  3. Create a new account.  
  4. For Institution, select Elsevier – HESI.


Step 3: Schedule your exam 

 

Important: Try to Register at least 72 hours before your preferred test time.  

  1. Log in at ProctorU.
  2. Click Schedule New Session.  
  3. Choose:
    • Institution: Elsevier – HESI
    • Term: Texas A&M College Station  
    • Exam: Select your test:
      • RN Admission Assessment (A2) 1st Time Tester  
      • RN Admission Assessment (A2) 2nd Time Tester 
        (You may take these in any order)  
  4. Click Find Sessions and follow prompts to complete scheduling.


Step 4: Prepare for exam day 

 

Download Guardian Browser if prompted  

Test your equipment  

Set up your testing space  

  • Quiet, well-lit, no distractions  
  • Clear your workspace of everything not allowed on the exam  
  • No beds or couches — use a desk or table  

Know what you’ll need  

  • Evolve username & password  
  • Government-issued photo ID  
  • Any required or allowed materials (5-function calculator, erasable whiteboard)  
  • Access code for your exam (see below)  

Need accommodations?  

 


Step 5: On Test Day 

  • Launch your exam from the Guardian Browser  
  • Log in to ProctorU and connect with your live proctor  
  • Show your photo ID and scan your testing area  
  • The check-in process takes 10–25 minutes (this does not reduce your exam time)  

Access codes for your exam  
Use the correct code when/if prompted:  

  • 1st Time Tester : A050T61HFN  
  • 2nd Time Tester : 0QF4N6I3QG  

 


Final Reminders 

  • You must use a computer (not a tablet) with a webcam and microphone.
  • Stay connected to reliable internet; ask others not to stream during your test.
  • Make sure your space meets the rules. If it doesn't, your exam could be canceled.
